In the anime series "Angel Beats!", there is a character by the name of TK that is known for eccentric English phrases. One of them is his catch phrase, "Get Chance And Luck."

It could not have been any more true for Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy, who made the most of the chances, denied the chances Steve Nicol's New England Revolution had in front of them, and rode on a little bit of luck from the crossbar in their 1-0 victory over New England at Gillette Stadium.

The second minute of stoppage time featured some tenacious defending from the Galaxy, who need to make these types of stops.

If Omar Gonzalez or Donovan Ricketts is beat, A.J. DeLaGarza is there to lay his body and clear it off his line. If a deflection of the crossbar finds the feet of Shalrie Joseph, Gonzalez, Donovan Ricketts and Landon Donovan are there to clear as one.

At the same time, this just goes to show you how much the Galaxy are going to miss the two Donovans in June. They pose a strong defensive presence, and while this June will be Josh Saunders's time to shine, someone will need to step up in Landon's absence.

The good thing is that David Beckham and Juan Pablo Angel are still around. Beckham will get the captain's armband this coming month. And he may have found his newest option when playing the set piece slot machine on the pitch.

Let me take a deep breath, clear my throat, and say this. Boston: say hello to Miguel Lopez. This young Argentinean was the beneficiary on a delivery from Beckham that did see paydirt.

This is not going to be his last goal, either. There will be more on the way from this star, who is currently on loan from Quilmes Athletic Club.

But back to the stoppage time extravaganza. The adage reigns true. Defense wins championships. If you prevent a score, and you've already scored, you'll not only win the battle, you'll win the war.

Bruce Arena's side may not have some of the most entertaining football in the league. That honor can go to either Real Salt Lake or the New York Red Bulls, take your pick (I'm picking RSL)

But when it comes to getting the result on the pitch, there won't be much complaining from the fans in Los Angeles (Maybe some donning the red and white, but you never know).

Of course—and let me clear my throat when I say this—in a perfect world, Bruce Arena will have literally stolen Josep Guardiola's style of football and successfully implanted such style into the players of the Galaxy. In short, it's the Barça way or the highway.

That, unfortunately, is not the case. But it has worked for them this May. Four wins, two draws and only one defeat. Not a bad month, and it's capped off with as four-game winning streak.

As Bruce Arena's men return home for some Victoria Street home cooking, the questions that must be answered include who will fill Landon Donovan's big shoes and if the depth will win the day for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

(Sorry, Chip Kelly of Oregon. I had to borrow that phrase. You know what I'm talking about.)

All these and other questions will be answered when Mr. Beckham and company take on D.C. United on Friday, June 3. Kickoff at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 p.m. ET and will be televised by Fox Soccer Channel.
